Keep the frame you like and renew the glass and glazing around it. A good option for older timber windows and for sound aluminium frames with tired seals.
Reglazing means taking the glass out of the frame, cleaning the rebate or channel, and refitting glass with fresh putty, beading or rubber seals. Sometimes the old glass goes back in, and more often a new pane does. The frame stays where it is, along with the paint and the look of the house.
It is often the right call for character homes around North Brisbane, where the timber sashes are worth keeping and a matching new window would be hard to find. It also suits aluminium frames where a broken pane or perished seal is the only real fault. Rattling panes, draughts and water getting past the glass are the usual signs.
If timber has rotted through or an aluminium frame has been bent out of square, new glass will not fix the problem. We will look at the frame first and tell you honestly. A reglaze is also a chance to upgrade: a pane in a risky spot can go back as safety glass.
Our work
Our own photos of Glass Masters Brisbane jobs.
We replaced the broken door glass for this local charity, whose work in our community we admire.
Plywood off, new glass in, and the room gets its light back.
Reglazing makes particular sense in the older homes of Sandgate, Nundah, Stafford and Petrie, and for bayside homes in Margate and Beachmere where salt air has perished the seals. Call from anywhere across Moreton Bay or North Brisbane and we will come and look at the frame.
How it works
Tell us what broke and where you are. A photo and rough measurements are enough for a guide.
We can quote on site and confirm the glass type, the size and the timing before you commit.
The old glass comes out, the new glass goes in, and the mess leaves with us.
